We are now in touch with all three crew members who were on the winning boat HTS in the London to Monte Carlo Race in 1972, Eddie Chater, Mike Bellamy and Jim Brooker. Lot's of information coming down now on how the race went and some new pictures from Jim.

Hunton Powerboats enter the race!
Hunton Powerboats of Romsey have now entered the race in the Cruiser G catagory with their XRS 43. This is the 1st British Boat Builder to have committed and with their racing history and pedigree they should do well - especially if they have Jeff on board.

Jeff's got an interesting project on the go that I hadn't heard of. I will leave it to him to explain if anyone is interested but it's very long and potentially very fast - so I'm told.

We will have a section on the Cowes to Monte-Carlo Grand Prix Web Site (coming very shortly) for second-hand Race Boats over 26ft - petrol or diesel - which would be suitable for taking part in Marathon Racing and more importantly for this race.
Anyone having such a boat please send full details to me at - mikelloyd00@gmail.com - together with jpeg pics and we will post them in that section Free of Charge!
We have already received several enquiries from potential competitors for such boats so if we can satisfy those enquiries then we will have even more teams taking part. I want to emphasise that there will be NO charge for this service for at least the next six months.
We may eventually have to extend this to include NEW race boats but only if the demand is there!
This web site will eventually be seen by many people so take advantage.

Web Site active!
The web site for the Cowes to Monte-Carlo Powerboat Grand Prix 2013 is now up and running at www.cowestomontecarlo.com.
Not 100% yet but getting there, Now, it's keeping Boatmad, Facebook and Web Site all informed at the same time which is going to be the tricky bit!

John “Cookee” Cook has just informed us that he is “seriously interested” in entering one of his Bananashark 34’s in The Cowes to Monte-Carlo Grand Prix for 2013. This brings the total number of “seriously interested” teams to thirty-three!

Being a sad old boater, I still have Powerboat mags back to the 60's, so finally got round to digging out my September 1972 copy.

Buss Pass, If antiques were priced as items of importance, you would be a rich man, not a sad old boater (not that you are). Priceless!

These Powerboat article's brings back floods of memories.
It just goes to show what you can be achieved with a slow old diesel wooden boat, !!!! I do wish everyone who enters this very long race the best of luck.

If you don't mind Jeff I will put those articles up on the web site. They just make for riveting reading and are the only history of this race.
Johnny Caulcutt's adventure/experience was just incredible. 19 hours in the water and while in the water they fitted an outboard onto a seat to help get them ashore!! Simply unbelievable.

Register for interest/taking part in the race now on the web site at: http://www.cowestomontecarlo.com/register
Now on thirty-four "committed" race teams but still stuck on three cruisers for the Rally but there is still 2.5 years to go!
