Really? I thought XR's, and in fact all bravos, were permanently engaged gears, it's just the clutch mechanism that engages/disengages - and in fact, bravos much prefer the motor to be running when you engage/disengage.

OK I wasn't sure about the Bravos and XR's!

thanks, so a crash box is a box were you can only engage gear when the engine is not running? So start in gear?
Does the boats in A, B and C class need the ability to go astern according to the rules?

A to C classes are allowed crash boxes but all classes need to be able to go astern.

After four days travelling and meetings in France we now have another two to add to the "O.K." listing, Brest and Les Sables d'Olonne. Two beautiful venues with all the facilities you would expect from world class marinas. Six more to go.

No HGV I'm afraid, but reading through accounts of previous marathon events (RB69, 84 & 08) it appears that one of the "rare breeds" is vehicles travelling to the next port-of-call !! If nobody wants me, I shall follow it in my car and be able to give people lifts.... Was going to take two weeks off to follow RB11, so plans have changed
P.M. me if you want a reliable driver at no cost!
Oh, and thanks Mike, for taking-on the impossible... yet again!

Hi Delta 28,
I had to look back for this thread as I did remember someone saying they would like to help regarding driving and I found you!!
We are going to need someone to leave late at night - in a van/4 wheel drive small truck which we will provide - so that they get to the next Venue each day very early to ensure that everyone at that venue knows we are coming, they tend to forget as we found out in 2008! The Organising Race Team will be arriving between 9am and 10am by plane so your job will be to carry stuff with you to start the "set up" of Race Control.
It's not going to be a cushy job this one, very little sleep for 14 days but we do need someone to do it and of course you will get free entry to ALL party's - if you have the time, plus free food and free accommodation (your car seat) - provided!
PM me if you are interested.

In the same vain as Delta28 I would love to take part in the race but it doesn't look like that would happen so I'd like to offer my services to any team or organisers on the transport or any other front.
If I can be of help please send me a PM
Cheers
Mark

Driving..you mad?
Hi Mike
Sorry, was away in Cornwall (great boat, that HTS / Apache 555!) so i've only just seen this...
Sounds like you might need me and Mark... I'm up for helping, as I want to follow the race anyway... only this would be from in-front!
Question? Seeing as Mark has volunteered too, would it be an idea to send someone to start things rolling the day before, aswell as overnight? (given that there aren't always that many people about early morning..) Just a passing thought.
P.M. on its way

Ahh, just noticed this. You obviously have time on your hands Cookee! Your help in assisting an old man who is obviously going senile because of the overload of work is greatly appreciated.

It was the " severed" bit mentioned above that was scaring me...
Yeah, if I was following the race or stopping-off at some of the venues then I'd definitely join, but Mike's dangling the carrot ( sorry, that sounds like some sort of euphemism... anyway, see below!) of all those benefits for free... provided I work my socks-off!

Plus free box of matches... to prop me eyelids open!
WTF... I'll do it!!
