As of Boxing Day, we now have 41 Race Teams and 4 Motor Cruisers “wishing to participate” in the race and rally. It is nice to see our friend “Ocean Pirate” from the 2008 Round Britain Race coming out again but this time taking part in the rally to Monte-Carlo.

The Sussex Motor Yacht Club has some stunningly beautiful trophy’s that have not seen the light of day for many years. The SMYC have generously offered these wonderful trophy’s to us for presentation to the winners of the various classes in Monaco. In the main they are Silver (one being made of marble), very old (some dating back to 1907 & 1908) and very valuable. Four will be on display in pristine condition on the first day of the launch of the Cowes Monte-Carlo Powerboat Grand Prix at the London Boat Show on Friday 7th January 2011.

Hi Mike, all,
Wow that's great news for the trophy's - A funny old world I sailed with SMYC Shoreham when in my teens Laser /505s - but think the Motor division may of split before then.
Will post later on the trophy's - after the prize giving they were all put in the Children's room at the hotel - I was 8 - so next morning myself and sister woke up to find all these trophy's (27 I think) including the Gold one - was simply stunning.
P.s. was at home and found several original Monte items as only a then 8yr old can retain - badges, stickers & t-shirts etc.

Thanks for the shirts Dowdy, you certainly know how to make an old man puff having to carry that box half a bleeding mile with just 15 minutes to go before the launch! Gave JF a hat and shirt, hope that is O.K. Will talk later, appreciate you coming all that way down through snow and sleet just to see us. Sorry you didn't get much Champagne, nor did I!! Better report on the launch Monday when I get home.
