The plans for the race are still moving on but it looks as though we have hit a quiet period as far as entries are concerned. Sitting quietly on 40 but have invoiced another five as requested who have yet to pay. I am hearing that there are still many teams from all over the world out there who are working on getting their act together but of course if they don't move soon there won't be any spaces left. There is no doubt in our minds that we will have to run a reserve listing as we did in RB 2008.

Many things are happening but it's frustrating that we can't announce any of them at the moment so we have to be patient until the time is right.

The Venues are now our priority and we will report back on those as we visit them.

Italian Entries

No Italian entries so far which is strange, after all the Italians love offshore racing and in the 1980's were quite dominant so what can be the problem? One can only assume that either the money is not avaiable or they don't fancy this long distance racing anymore. Either way it's a shame that there are no teams interested in taking part in this, one of the greatest powerboat races of all time.

In answer to your questions, I haven't heard a thing from either Fabio or Hannes so maybe they are thinking they are getting too old for this type of endurance race :-). Cookee will have to speak for himself as to why he is not in.
The three boat team of HH racing will be all Cougar 38's - hard tops, that's the plan apparently.
Exciting is not even half of it, so much stuff is going on I'm bouncing off the walls!!

We are off to wave the 2013 Cowes to Monte-Carlo flag down in Antibes over the weekend at a big “power up” show being held by Mercury and Nor-Tec. Apparently it’s an international excuse for all boating petrol heads to get together, sounds like fun.

Whilst we are there, on Monday, we will be running up the coast to Monte-Carlo to check out the Marina, where the finish line will be and also meeting several Hotel owners. Have to book soon or there will be no room for the fleet!!

It’s, Monte-Carlo or bust!

Sponsorship by Peters & May

- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Peters & May is delighted to announce their agreement to be the Official Logistics Partner of the Cowes Monte-Carlo Powerboat Grand Prix 2013.

The Cowes Monte-Carlo Powerboat Grand Prix will start on Saturday the 8th June 2013 from the Royal Yacht Squadron on the Isle of Wight. The boats will cover 2,400 miles over 14 days via 11 cities in 4 countries, making this the longest, toughest, offshore powerboat race in the world.

The current entry list stands at 41 boats, made up of both private and professional teams from the UK, USA, Australia, China, Ireland, Germany, France, Sweden, Greece, Norway, Belgium, Poland and the Ukraine.

Peters & May will be offering teams transport solutions before and after the event and also providing a comprehensive courier service for urgent spares and replacement parts throughout the race.

Mike Lloyd of MPA Powerboat Events, comments, “The drivers will be on the water for up to 8 hours a day, and all they will want to do when they arrive in each port is eat and sleep. However, in this sport we have learnt to expect some breakages. The teams will want to know that any spare parts they need will be delivered quickly to minimise the time it takes to get the boats ready to race the following day. That is why we have chosen Peters & May as our official logistics provider, because we knew they would give our competitors peace of mind”.

Upon signing the contract, David Holley, CEO of the Peters & May Group expressed his excitement about the 2013 race by saying, “To have 41 of the 50 places filled already, more than 2 years before the race starts, proves to us that this is going to be a massive event, and we are delighted to be involved, it’s going to be an exciting couple of weeks, both from a racing and a logistical perspective”.

Travelling over and mission accomplished. Meetings in Monaco and Antibes went well and I thank Glenn Chidzoy and also the Monaco Tourist Office for all their help because without them many things would not have been able to have been achieved. Nice people down there and they are keen to see the race finish in Monte-Carlo.

I have to say that this whole area is stunningly beautiful and we will be trying very hard to ensure that when the race teams arrive they will have one of the very best of times. The final run from Marseilles to Monte-Carlo will be one that teams will remember for many years I am sure.

Pics are of a 50ft Nor Tech beauty we found down there with triple 850hp supercharghed engines. Some animal. It's for sale by the way!

Interesting challenges pop up every day. Suddenly we find that all the national authorities in France, Spain and Portugal want quantities of our literature in their languages! That's the Race Brochure and our new Super Glossy Sponsorship Brochure.

Thank goodness for our sponsors PPG Print of Portsmouth who have taken on that task and are working their socks off to get them done in time for us to take with us.

Important Announcement.

The decision has been made today to cap entries into the 2013 Cowes to Monte-Carlo Powerboat Grand Prix at 50, not 55.

The comments we have been receiving from various Marinas about 55 boats arriving in one afternoon is worrying them (it’s been worrying us as well) so although not a great reduction it will be easier for everyone if there will only be 50 or less boats arriving. Handling, organising and re-fuelling up to 50 powerboats in an afternoon is a major challenge anyway as we discovered in RB2008.

Any race teams not able to register and pay their deposits before the cap will go onto a reserve listing.

This decision is to take effect immediately.

A big welcome to our friend and competitor from RB08 Gavin Howe, the latest to join the ranks for this epic event. For those who can't remember, Gavin races his boat Black Gold which might move onto Black Gold2 if he can find the right boat.
Now on 42 with more hovering in the wings!
