Small footage made for Wettpunk.com http://www.wettpunktracing.com/videos

Gives an idea of how the Sky Sports film will look.

Does anyone know how Gordon C got on, after he retired west of Portland in the CTC?
He was reported as making for Weymouth, but anyone know how long that took he & John L., & what went wrong ?
Its the first time I can remember Gordon retiring in any race.

They broke an engine mount foot.

I'm sure Gordon has it sorted by now.

For anyone who's interested, here's a few mins from the onboard cameras of the Cowes 100 race. Near the end, you can see Hannes romp past us in the sheltered waters of North Head, and dissapearing up the Solent, then we see them again at the finish a few mins later....humph.

We would have had some great stuff from CTC (excuse the pun) but the camera went AWOL!

Anyone interested? We're all interested!

Here's a question after watching that vid Jon. Given a choice, would you prefer a sitting or standing cockpit? Even with 'shocked' seating it looks like you guys take quite a pounding.

Also, when are you fitting the windscreen?!!!!!!!!!!!

It may look uncomfortable, but I wouldn't swap the seated, suspension option for anything.
250 miles is a ferkin long way to be standing, if it's dog rough.

I can honestly say, just as with the RB08, other than a slightly stiff neck and a bruise or two, I had no real aching issues after CTC 2010, Nick's the same.

His eyes however, after 80 miles without a visor, left him looking like a crack addict. Seemed to affect him more than I. (I think he might be a bit soft )

Windscreens are for girls!

What seats do you use Jon?

Interesting video, just wondering how much throttle adjustments you make in a sea like that - are you constantly on & off?

Looks like visor misting was a problem for you both too.

They're Canadian, called Shockwave. Very good indeed.

Diesels really don't require any throttling, at least not so long as you're able to run at max. we did actually run with less than max coming back across Lyme bay, but still just a steady throttle position, letting the engine's govener do the work.
There's a good 2+ second lag with these diesels from either throttle off/on (manually) or the guvenor cutting in to limit revs, to when full boost/power is regained. That lag is most annoying, especially if the props are leaving the water every two seconds or so, as the boost/power never really gets a chance to build back up. It's all about trying to keep them on the boil, so to speak. So in certain rough conditions, we end up running with almost constantly reduced power. There's certainly no 'punch' from using the throttle like there is with a petrol engine that can be so useful for maintaining pitch, or lifting the bow at a crucial moment.

Yeah, visor misting was a problem, well, till we lost em both in the CTC, wasn't a problem after that. Normally not too bad, but I forgot the Rain-X that weekend. DOH

Great footage Jon, nice shot of us and Cinzano coming through at the start apologies for the wash we left you! Some epic footage of the run out to Needles Fairway that was some real lumpy stuff, a good warmup for the run through the Portland Race on Sunday!!

No, not had a chance to try them. I think Mell & Peter in the SR9 are using them, also Darren Hook has a set in his Revenger. he says they're good.

Not at all, we only do our best.
I think this yank should come over here and show the Europeans how it's done, you know, like Buzzi has every time he goes to the US, and the odd, small wave appears, he wins, they bust everything in sight, then bitch about his boat, then ban him on yet another rule detail (or should I say, change the rules to exclude him). Good losers the yanks.
Charles Burnett once said, the behaviour he saw from the yank rule gods made him ashamed to be American, after they banned diesels from the class he'd just won with a diesel boat...As they say over there..go figure.

Big engines, Big top speeds, Big mouths, Big egos, Flimsy boats, Vulgar paint jobs, Flat water (or they cancel) end of.

Come over here, with a boat that fits a class (would love you to fit our class, in fact, I'm sure your aero-tek would fit nicely with an engine change, though I suspect it would be a dog slow POS with a single production small block, but hey, you're American, you can throttle & trim your way out of that, right? ), run a 200+ mile race in the rough, then, if you show us to be crap, fine, will bow to you without hesitation, until then, you're just another gobby know-it-all Yank! Sorry, but that's how many of you come across, especially you.
