I think what John has said is that entry fees will cover 20% of the costs incurred to run the event.
The other 80% I assume will be met through sponsorship.
Oops, didn't realise John had already responded.

OK, so 20% of the overall cost is being met by race fees. That makes much better sense.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I wish I could be 100% certain of being there, but right now three of us have a lot of boat building to do before turning up, so all I can say is that BananaShark will definitely be there if it is humanly possible!

Marathon entries will be in the region of 35 - 40 for all classes. As seems the norm these days - Competitors leaving it late to send their forms & cheques in the post!

Anyone know how recent the sea survival course has to be or do you just have to have done one?

If it's any help I heard they are stiffening up the course from next year to Sailing single handed around the world, swim the English channel, and spend a week tethered to a channel marker with only a seagull for company while singing Rule Britannia word perfic

Give the field a chance this time Dozzer, and make it look like a tight race.i.e. keep it half throttle, otherwise some nasty man may stick a load cell under you over the weekend.
