V24 - the future

So go on Cliff - spill the beans on what is happening, please.
Are you not running at all next year, or just not in V24 ?
Are all the boats going abroad, maybe northwards ?
Now you've given us a clue, we want the whole story, please !

Rooms available for Cowes

Just heard from a guy who has 7 rooms available on the Isle of Wight for Powerboat Week. No idea as to quality. Anyone who is looking PM me and I will pass on his details.

I have not sent in an entry, but you seem to have a photograph of my boat down as an entry.

Cowes Or Ilfracombe

Maybe I'm old fashioned or just old but i sat in a room in Plymouth having been emplored by Chairman Bob to make Littlehampton financially viable for The V24s and 3cs. So instead of attending our local Ilfracombe National, OCR agreed to support Littlehampton change the date for Ilfracombe and gratefully in return V24s and 3cs would support Ilfracombe on the agreed rearranged date. Deal concluded one would have thought.

OCR true to its word journeyed in toto to Littlehampton for just a one hour bruising race instead of the usual 4 races over two days.

An englishmans word used to be his bond in the good old days and that seems to be the problem. Now 3cs are going to Cowes without recourse to Ilfracombe and the first we know about it is on Boatmad.

How is powerboating ever going to survive if this sort of behaviour is to carry on. Its either bring in the lawyers or pay the money for any future agreement or we just dont play either way what value a multi witnessed handshake infront of an RYA Commissioner?

Funnily enough my wife commented after Plymouth 'BET THEY'LL NEVER COME'! Not that funny now.

This being my navigator Barry's (fresh from Stock Car Racing - his sport not mine!) and my first seasons full OCR racing how disappointing is this. Having met Cliff at Littlehampton I feel sure he wont renage on the deal.

THE BIGGER THE PROBLEM THE SWEETER THE SOLUTION

We wanted Class 3 boats at Cowes from September last year !

1) I had a phone conversation to tell me Class 3 would come to Cowes.

2) I then found out via Boatmad they would be racing at Torquay.

Our Race Secretary and OOD then worked out our CTC course to suit.

3) I then here Torquay is cancelled due to circumstances.

4) Then I hear Class 3, V24 & OCR is racing at Ilfracombe.

5) Then Class 3 boats back at Cowes - Hence the web site posts.

' I HEAR' hmm - Lets be straight about this >> Everyone from all the race series were present at Plymouth and an agreement was made. Everyone knew dates, OCR (the largest fleet) sacrificed most, completely changing its format to help, support and rearrange dates. I chair a successful squash club and will turn out 3 teams of 5 players most weeks from september to march. Team values are all important and without boats and without trust team powerboating will have a lot of ageing boats for sale on Boatmad. Pity as I havnt had mine for long!

Hi Man
Long time no long text! - exciting your XCAT racing very tempting esp as there seems kamikazee behaviour in powerboats over here - mostly off the water I hasten to add!!
Sadly £pockets not as deep as yours. Anyway that boat in your profile looks mightily like mine!
When do XCATs fire up,again?
I note Richard is very good in the boat and never answers back!!
Dont be a Florian!

OCR 50 - 100% bigger than most add em all together and you get into double figures just!!

The bigger the problem the sweeter the solution.
