I assume you mean this: Yacht hits supertanker - it is already being discussed all over the internet and the skipper needs his genitals removing for extreme stupidity, but how is that safer than the CTC start being at Cowes?

It is because of that we can't have a start at Cowes, it is not us, it is the sail boats doing that on the start shoot. Sail has right of way over power, so they will sail into the start shoot because they can!

I assume we still finish at the gurnard mark and not north head as rumoured that would be pooh! Any chance of some official race instructions, not long now.

Race Instructions will be posted at the end of the week.

Sorry for delay -

Finish will be at North Head -

Any thoughts on this please direct to the RYA, not the humble team who try to give you a good Event.

Very sad the end of the true CTC as we know it. Not good for the sport, I guess the P1 match racing will be out at north head too?

Can certainly see things from the RYA side and the position they are in with approving racing in the Solent.

All very disappointing none the less and what we need (I believe) for the future of this great event and the sport in general is everyone to work together and work even harder - rather than pushing around the blame etc.

Times are changing and it is not getting any easier....

In Norway the powerboat association is a part of the motor sport association and have nothing to do with rags and stick brigade. Just an observation.

We call it the MSA in the UK - Motor Sports Association

Oh Dear what a Bummer, I used to enjoy sitting on the breakwater at the castle watching the fleet race back through Hurst narrows, Got some cracking pics last year as they hit the tidal race, What a shame for you guys after all your hard work! can you please post the correct RYA web address so i can voice my disapointment Many Thanks, Keep up the good work and lets hope this start/finish issue is sorted by next year?
Regards Colin

Just a thought but any possibility of re-routing past Bournemouth pier on the way out and again on the way back, like the last race we watched going past the pier, at least that way their will be photos and a possibility of a few spectators

I must admit I had forlorn hope that this year the start would be in front of the squadron but had a nagging feeling that we may well still be banished to the likes of North Head again, being out of sight and out of mind to everyone but the participants and those who remember the race actually still exists.

To hear now that the race will also now finish at North Head is an absolute travesty, on the return the boats will be so spread out that I am sure the Solent can cope with one or two fast boats running through which I understand anyone can do on any day in any craft. If the RYA is responsible for this I can't help but think our own governing body is doing a great job of killing our own sport. Having paid the entry fee we will run this year but can't help but think Cowes as a venue is nearing the end.

Have just looked to see where north head is.middle of the sahara might as well be.A total insult to all competitors imagine having a good race in with a chance finish line coming up the spectators are getting all fired up and listen to the roar of the crowd nah sorry just the seagulls, total rowlocks
We need to follow the government and get rid of these quangos.

Agreed...

Good luck, Mike. You probably carry enough clout to warrant a response... I have in the past written twice to this man...and not even had the courtesy of a reply.

Before this, I was just p*ssed-off... Now I'm furious.

Sounds to me as though the CTC is doomed after this year if you can't even finish in Cowes. Agree with Tony it may as well be called the LTL or YTY

So who is responsible for this decision?

It might just as well be run from Lymington or Yarmouth & save on the fuel.

The RYA have become nothing more than a complete bunch of Numpty's, the 'Y' in the name that gives it away, they have no interest in our sport and if they are serious about safety issues they ought to look closer @ thier own rag @ stick brigade, many more of those in the Solent are in need of a lot more training.

Thats my six pennies worth said
