It has a rough weather course totally east of Hurst, as well as a portion of its full course east of Hurst too !
I belive that the trouble lies in part with what has happened at Cowes based races in the not so recent past, sadly.

So the P1 Superstock racing on Saturday has also been withdrawn, only the aquabikes are allowed, this is not good news

With all the Sh-- organisers have to put up from the authorities and so called supporters i'm surprised there is any racing taking place at all.

We all understand the need for the safety of spectators and racers but there will always be a risk of an accident in motorised sports. ( there is a risk in crossing roads )

Maybe the MAIB can investigate the motorway drivers who drive like prats and cause accidents.
The bikers that undertake you @ 100mph. The lorrys that sit on your bumper and the motorists that nick your breaking distance space.

There conclusion would have to be a recommendation to ban motorway driving.

Its quite clear from the MAIB website that they do not enforce laws or carry out prosecutions.

Not starting at Cowes still remains an issue for me, not finishing at Cowes is as I have said before a travisty, if the RYA fail to approve a traditional finish in sight of any spectators can you please confirm the option exists to refund our entry

Just in case this includes my post then i would just like to make clear that the e-mail i sent was in support of the organisers and critical of the RYA role as reported,particularly regarding moving the finish of the race outside of the Solent.
In so doing they remove one of the few places(Hurst) that spectators,friends,SUPPORTERS can view offshore racers at full tilt at close quarter from shore.
I have nothing but admiration for anyone prepared to organise an event on this scale and know from personal experience(albeit a far smaller event and nothing to do with powerboats)how much flak and hassle can be involved.
It would seem that goalposts have been moved further up the command chain and the reasons and motives involved can only be guessed at by the rest of us, but in light of recent events last week(which were mentioned in the reply i recieved)i wouldn't mind betting that it involves H&S and legal advice, at least in part.

Execelent News, So now my long slog along Hurst shingle bank will not be in vain! I will now see boats racing past hurst to the finish line, Brilliant news for the competitors AND us spectators, Now im looking forward to this one! Very well done to you guys , All your hard work has payed off

Thank the Lord for that and for those that put pressure on those that needed pressure put on them. I suspect that there was a lot of that in the background.

The alternative was of course rubbish and a travesty of this great race, Sir Max Aitkin would have been turning in his grave and probably Tim Powell was downing a few large G & T's or is it V & T's, I can't remember. Of course he is the Grand Dady of this race having organised it some 20 odd times.

If this finish hadn't changed I suspect that next year the entry list would have been very poor indeed.

What is the Total distance now please, 175nm? As a Historic boat we have to carefully work out our average speed over distance.
