So not that unusual.
I was not aware, increasing modulus with almost none extra weight is always good!

Glad we could educate you! Just for interest which yard do you work in?

We laminated the hull and deck for swipes, and although our boat will be regular polyester and fibreglass albeit woven roving combi mat and Swipes is Aramat the construction will be very similar and it's worked for that boat - CTC this year was a great test, even works well under water!

And this year.

I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it.

Anyway, they started it.

OK, a bit different to Offshore raceboats then! I think the only similarity would be the materials, and even then I suspect your build would be "a bit heavier" than ours!

Some info for you John.

Many years ago Rodman came to Don Shead for his ideas for their Patrol Boats,so with the help of Ken Raybould, they produced Patrol Craft that could hunt down the ex-Shead racers doing the Morocco run. They have since moved on to bigger craft since, but have always produced high class competitve boats. If `a26` was to look at some Rodman drawings from the 80`s he should discover the `Shead Design` title block on a lot of the drawings.

you are right.mainly, all of them are don shead designs.they run very good. 55 is fast!
but it is also true that weight is high, but surprisingly they run more than what you can expect

What the "Special yellow stuff" is for - well at least one use - more will be revealed as we go along!

This is spreading the load of the central windscreen support, the "orange stuff" will provide a smooth transition between the main layup of the deck and the flange for the screen giving us the strongest possible support where it is needed.

The UIM specifications call for 50mm flange for a full cockpit boat, so we will stick to that.
