Yeah, but we can only see the sea if we stand on the roof.

Besides do you know where I can buy anything that looks as good as this?
Video of model looks great seems to ride real well. Did your model replicate the end products weight distribution and centre of gravity characteristics?

I only mention this, as 12 yrs ago we had 3 bladerunner remote control boats of similar size and speed to your model. We use to race them in the lagoon behind the house in Florida, the models behaved brilliantly, no accidents, no funny handling problems....with exception of the alligator attack on one of them. Drove the full size version years later, what a pile of crap!!!

I really, really hope this does not happen to you guys. Wishing you the best of luck and best regards......Paul

ps great looking boat..far to pretty for me!!!

Too pretty?

We'll let you know later in the year when we are testing the full size boat! We have tried to replicate the centre of gravity in the model but time will tell how right we are.

Very confident that we can make it work as the model as the design is much more simple than the Blade Runner with less to go wrong, it is basically a stepped V using a combination of proven design features.

We will be doing an outboard version if you want to put those outboards of yours on a fast boat

So i take it the gel is part of the plug, to now be sanded, waxed etc lots of times, as opposed to being the first layer of the mould?

Noooooooo that's the mould! - the surface we are moulding off can be seen in the preceding photos, mostly formica polished and waxed.

Carl, the vents are big, but the relative angles and changes of height of the steps are a bit more "standard"

Hi Cookee,

Just wondered if you have ever laid up on polycarbonate sheet with epoxy resin. Will I get away with a few coats of Mirror Wax or will I need a mould release agent as well and if so what is the best to use as I have not worked with epoxy before ?

Thanks David

Kitten's your man for that really - but I would imagine the same as polyester, if in doubt do a small test piece?

For info, Polyester resin will quickly attack polycarbonate sheet.

Monthly Feature

Hi Cooke the project looks great as you are happy to post info about this would it not make a good regular feature with monthly progress on Sport Boat and Rib,as I think the magazine needs an uplift-getting a bit boring/repetetive and hopefully they would pay you for the article, just my thoughts but it might gain some publicity for you and the sport in general.Best wishes Nic

Thanks for the advice - sadly they won't pay me for it, I have already got it started and I hope to get it published soon. Just waiting to be a bit further along before I start.

JW - Told you Kitten would know better than me!

JW speaks as a man who has, bin there done that.
You can get away with polyester resins on polycarb if you are quick and don't want lots of pulls, knakers the polycarb though, surface goes soft and cracks up.
epoxy on polycarb I'm not sure, I'm told well waxed it will work. As Cookee said try a sample to see if it will do what you want.
