Sounds like a blank shell to me. You've been 'had'!
My money says a .38 would go clean through both sides of your boat.

Hmm... A sound plan, with no flaws...
Build a ruddy great boat, then test it by shootin' holes through it...
Don't try this at home children...

That's interesting that with a handgun in his hand, a boat and you in close proximity that he chose to shoot the boat.

Perhaps it's not as daft as it sounds.. (except that he chose to shoot the boat, that is..!)
The Admiralty used surrendered battleships as targets to test the destructive power of their gunfire.
They would also manufacture sections of their own armour-plating and test it against 15" and 16" AP shells.
Suppose you could make sections of what is proposed for a hull, put THEM against a wall and shoot the f##k out of them... and then anything else (or anyone!) around...

Question....
did the gunman shoot the sides, or the bottom of the boat?

Many years ago, one of the big glass companies coming down to the range with the staff from a local bank to demonstrate their "new, improved bullet-proof glass"
They didn't see the funny side when a 9mm was put straight through it....still, they should have specified....."please don't use those tungsten cored rounds that you have knocking around in the armoury"...

I'm loving where this thread is going!
Knowing .38 cals, I also find it very hard to believe it didn't damage anything but the gel.
Maybe that story was as true as the one about the drinks company which was sponsoring you?

I was thinking of "the one across the pond"...
All this baiting... and it's eerily quiet
Still, count yer blessings, I suppose!
