^^^ Likewise. How is the build coming along then? Must be really getting there by now?

Cheers, James

Being as you asked nicely - the first part of the transom is in and the hog is about to go in, the second part of the transom will then be slotted to go over the hog and all laminated together.

You'll see in the next set of photos, but it's that big bit of wood being attacked by a chainsaw (two actually and big one and a small one for the detail!)

The two halves of the boat are now being joined together in the mould giving us a seamless boat which not only looks good but is much stronger. The balsa will carry on up onto the deck, and you may be able to just see two balsa stiffeners on the upside down deck which will carry on down the side of the windscreen area to give strength there.

Is that wood you've got stuck in your bote there boy?

I thought that like Pascoe, you lads thought there was no place for 'tree' in a modern bote! ...now we see not only Balsa (below the waterline, heaven forbid), in favour of flower display foam, but a wooden hog too!!!

You done a 180 Kitten??

Hope you're gonna laminate a A4 sheet under the deck saying "Structural influence from Steve Baker".

Sorry.
Just goes to show you never listen to a word I say.

"Structural influence from Steve Baker" Good Idea, as of course he was the only person who ever built boats like that.

Are you coming down when we take it from the mould? You can see how many we turn it into.

Did you get that?

Not sure what you mean about the hog - it's the big wooden stiffener in the centre of the hull - the Yanmars will sit on that and the side engine bearers.

The steps (if you go back a few pages to post 306) are strengthened by Kittens Kevlar Epoxy beams laid into the side of the hull on the sides and the hog in the centre.

Saw this cat in key west and spoke to a guy working on it and if reckons this paint job was 80 grand! Not sure about that much but it was like nothing else, absolutely flawless.

What we did this week! Two views of the pick-up arrangement for the custom GRP fuel tanks - it's a diesel boat and this is made using Scott Bader's diesel proof resin, the hose will be attached to the brass pick-up and the tank is divided into two.

The boat has been joined on the port side already and we are working on the starboard side now, the boat still inside the moulds is a bit of a weight and so needs careful handling to turn it on its side!

Hope to get the boat out of the moulds in the next few days.

The last photo is of the latest Phantom 19 with the main layup already in the hull.
