oooh errr, bit of a sweeping statement, wee man?

but you're right we are a business....

and busineses run on money,

venues pay us money to come race and bring the value of our circus...witness Vigo this weekend, great place, excellent support and touch wood we'll put on a great show right in front of the city centre (sacrilige I know, too close, too short, too circuit racing,,,,blah blah ) but it represents real value for them

this is 21st century powerboat series promotion I'm afraid....I think what you guys are doing with ctc is exactly right, an adventure for all an sundry who have the boats, the money and the inclination.....

meantime I need to create a calender that pays for itself and sadly one way or another we'll be racing somewhere that weekend...it's a key season extender for many venues .

I hear where you are coming from, but without Euro Buns you are left with 20% of F all.

So rather than taking the fast track to sponsorship, should you not be thinking about the rungs on the ladder that you may have broken on the way up?

I wonder if Fabio Buzzi had always intended putting the wing on Cssa as in 85 in it's first season, and racing as Nitro it had two giant air intakes each side that could have supported a wing but it didn't, perhaps at the speeds he was looking for he needed more stability as well as lift and so the wing was born by modifying the giant air intakes to fit the wing over, and I am sure the wing has been modified in angle slightly over the years ending up as it looks today and leading the boat to many championship wins and giving it the famous look

Fabio has made the most in advertising his recent victory's and who could blame him

http://fbdesign.it/Cowes-Torquay-Cowes%202008.php

Interesting Fabio states Venturers engines at only 700hp each, I thought originally this boat had engines around 850+hp each and a top speed around 105MPH, now I would assume low to mid 90's

Looks as though Cowes is sitting up and taking notice about the CTC. This can only be good for us for next year. A very good article on their web site plus they have added loads of pics!

Also the article I thought started as if it was perhaps a continuation from perhaps his earlier years and if so it's a great pity the beginning was missing. Reading it took me back to those years there was something special about that period 86-88 and I did go to Cowes, Camden trophy or Needles trophy, and Guernsey I also went to the Keys many times although I don't think 88 was one of them

Progettare per Vincere

Glad you liked it.
It’s an extract from his book:
Progettare per Vincere
Author:Fabio Buzzi
Language: Italian
Format: Book (Illustrated), 366 pages
Publication Date: January 1994
ISBN-10: 8842517763
ISBN-13: 9788842517764

This book covers the period from his child hood to the early nineties.
I managed to get hold of a copy in Italian, and it a really good read.
If you are not too keen on reading in Italian, I have a English (text only) translation kicking around some where.

Just think what kind of events you could put on if you won the 100Mil or you'd be a 10th of a billionaire

If I had that sort of money I would be too busy enjoying life somewhere hot rather than staying here and organising powerboat races. Mind you, if we are day dreaming here, I would ensure I had the biggest and fastest endurance race boat in this country ready to take on all comers including Fabio!! Something like a 50ft Apache with triple 900hp supercharged engines running surface drives would do (there is one being built as we speak but its not for me unfortunately). But thats just day dreaming of course.
