When are you going put "proper" trim tabs on that boat? The ones you have don't work and are "historic" as proved in the RB08.

I can not see (Measurement Certificates for Marathon Boats this year) in the rules.

FROM RULES
The maximum hull length for all competing craft is 24ft / 7.32 meters and the maximum for all is 50ft / 15.20 metres using UIM standard measurement procedure. See Class classifications. A diagram is available from the Organisers for clarification. Grandfather clause: Any boat that took part in the Round Britain 08 or Cowes/Torquay/Cowes08 will be allowed under this 3-year clause until the end of 2011.

So I don't need one? even if I don't fit, or anyone else who took part in the above races.
And how can they ask for this after the rules have come out.

The escence of Marathon was always supposed to be a no-nonsense class, with as little red tape as possible, running courses of the more traditional long distance Ocean Race style. The rules were intended to be as easily understood & policeable as possible, with no homoligation or measurement certificates required. (or fees for such)

That formula is what has made the series attractive to many, and in particular has drawn quite a few 'old racers' out of the woodwork who have long since hung up their helmets because they couldn't be arsed with the ever increasing RYA cost & endless palava that powerboat racing had become..

I think that if the Governing body 'now' tries to implement all this (which lets face it, is no more than another 'tax'), after agreeing the simple formula, those who have shown interest, or signed up will quickly become dissolusioned with it all.

All very short sighted indeed in my opinion. Powerboat racing is already in an absolute tail spin, it doesn't need any more help with failure.

Down to you and the others now John to fight the cause on the ORC. You will be given endless reasons for the above one of which of course is "The Dover Incident" and the repercussions thereof in particular the Quango that now has the powers to investigate “Marine Incidents” – heaven help us. Another is because the Powerboat Division of the RYA has budgetary targets to meet which of course increase year on year regardless of the fact that we are in one of the worst recessions for 60 years and that the overall number of powerboats racing have decreased - except for Marathon. You, I and many others have of course seen all of this before. If it's successful them lets squeeze it for all we can to make up for the shortfall would, it appears, be the motto - or is that just an OldMan being too cynical?
