Haven't seen anything "official" informing us of this, or is your post it?

Daily Express 1961 Cowes Torquay
Good to see The Daily Express now has its newspapers archived online -
This article was written the night before Offshore Powerboat Racing first happened here in the UK in 1961.

Entry Update
We have just booked Hannes Bohinc's accommodation for Cowes - His entry will be on the site in the next couple of days -
Drew Langdon's entry will be with us this week.
Rob Gray purchased the Planatec Uno Embassy, shipped it to the US so as Mike Bontoft could re rig her. She should be back in the UK @ Drivers fairly soon.
Another 3 big boats for Cowes!

Both Dry Martini and Uno Embassy are on the way to England after successful test sessions in the Columbia river.

Jon
We would love to come, but after the mixup with the Irish race, we are a bit gun shy right now. Bobby has agreed to do some new restoration work, he is just finishing Hammerhead, a 41 Apache for a European owner and has a couple more 36 foot Apaches in the shop in line.
I have decided to put up the Benihana for sale rather than starting a resto on it. I have a nice letter of authenticity from Michael Aronow, stating that this boat, this 35 Cigarette, was the last race boat that Don Aronow ever built for himself and registered under his lucky racing number 4.
With the recent deaths of both John Crouse and Bill Wishnick, I have come to realize that I may not have enough time to do all I planned to do, so better it go to someone who can enjoy it. Finished, it will be the center of attention and conversation wherever it goes, that's for sure.
That said, if the right situation came up, I'm sure that we would love nothing better than to be in Cowes for the 50th. I can still hold a steering wheel and Bobby still has his "magic" throttle arm ready to go. Just need a suitable ride for a couple old diehards.

Charlie, that's a shame, I was looking forward to meeting the both of you.
As it's the 50th, why not just take a short break & come as a spectator, you never know, a seat could materialise from somewhere. There's an Apache 41 running, and of course Bounty Hunter.

And if Asif Rangoonwalla would only commit to ensuring that his newly powered (Ilmores) Apache 41 actually hit the water and took part in the CTC instead of sitting down at Cougars gathering dust - allegedly - then I wouldn't doubt that there would be positions for the "legends" to come and take part in what could be a serious contender.
The thought of TWO Apache 41's running at Cowes is well, what a sight that would be.

Here is another one. Now why would you want to buy any other American/Italian race boat except for an Apache 41?

Thanks Jon & Mike.......I'll speak with Bobby today and see what we can come up with.
I'll tell him that the race organizers promised two of the latest style elderly walkers and promised to lift us into the boat with a crane.

Hi Claire
The only one i know of, is in East Cowes... http://www.waverley-park.co.uk/
It slopes like a good 'un, so pick your spot carefully! ...and it can get full of ruddy tourists, but you can't have everything...
Facilities are ok... I've used it in Cowes Week when me brother has already got a house-full.
Quite a walk to the Chain Ferry and then on to W Cowes High Street (about 1.5 miles to marina) but it's not an unpleasant one. Or round by road via Newport...
The only other one I know of near to Cowes is Thorness Bay (about 5 miles West) but it's more of a caravan / holiday park and there's the threat of in-house entertainment... gag...
Good Luck ! ian
