After beating 3 forms of cancer, losing his lovely wife, it is a miracle he is still with us.
Tim will be at Cowes this year.
He told my son a story a couple of years ago.
He and Doxford were racing one of the first wooden Cougar Cats in Key West.
They went bat out of hell and broke the steering - Helicopter pilot above shouted, "Are you okay guys".
Powell responded, "No, I need 20 cigarettes".
20 fags were dropped down to Limit Up.
"Now where is my f'ing lighter Chappie"?

How do we enter for this?? There is little time for plans to be made. How to enter. Public debate now please? Cost? course? where to book accommodation? Ports of call? European considerations? UIM details? Cranage? Fuel? Berthing fees? Border controls? Routes on land? Let's have the info so that we can make our plans. We are ready.

WHAT? asking for real, germane, necessary information, data, sources, contacts, ... in order to ... PLAN? ... how very, Very, VERY precious.
Maybe you should check facebook a/o twitter.
They are, after all, the VC committee's STRATEGIC medium of (tee hee) 'communication' (smirkle).
That you should have to ask (v. go to a website and d/l VOLUMES of more than you need) is ... umm ... par for the course and the m.o. of the committee.
Aidan, can you share such closely-held information abt your private, privileged kiddie pool in general, or do you need a formal request for it like worseforwear made?
Maybe you have a double-secret facebook location? needing a Twitter password?

Worsforwear you must have a great inside source - As a competitor I haven't heard anything and I spoke at length to "Blimp" yesterday afternoon!
Edit - it seems I was a bit too fast for you!

And you beat me Cookee. You can see why Aidan prefers not to use this forum as the main communication feed can't you!

Re: Venture Challenge
Hi Robert,
Regarding your most recent questions on the forum, we're currently working our way through a thorough debrief to set the correct processes in place for 2014. In parallel we're also active on course, funding and UIM related items. Full updates should be available over the next 10 days.
Can I ask what you'd hope to enter with and what experience you/your crew have?
- Aidan
See above. Entire text from private message from Blimp. I wasn't going to qoute all this but you have forced my hand. Note the heading clearly says VENTURE CHALLENGE.
Get off your high horses guys and work together.

Just to briefly clarify. The reason 'Venture Challenge' is in the header is simply because this was what Worsforwear used as his header on a message to me back in March. When I 'replied' it kept that same header, as is normal. Those two words belong to worsforwear, not me

I really can't see what your problem is here? You seem determined to have a go at the organisers over anything, if you actually intend on entering the race to Monte Carlo I'm sure you'll get all the information you want and need as soon as it's ready to give out...
Nice little write up in today's Guernsey Press sports pages, 2 weeks late but that's down to the ineptitude of the Press themselves...

No it isn't - trailer is in the middle of a rebuild so that it's easier to get on and off.
Not too shabby are they?

Can someone tell me where the post from Worsforwear has gone as it was very interesting reading (i think "blimp" asked for it to be removed!!) or is it all a secret like the apparent "rule changes" if you ask me we should all be allowed to know whats going on in the powerboat racing world as we are all involved in some way! Claire - Worsforwear posted up our full debrief document which we made clear we didn't want reproduced without permission. It was sent to over 300 people in the powerboat world so no secrets with this one. Eric and Max should've received a copy, but if they haven't send me a PM with an email address and I'll send it on.

As you've seen it Claire you'll already know that there's nothing 'secret' about it. If anything, the whole process was extremely open and inclusive. We have specific reasons for not wanting the document published openly. These are our own reasons, unrelated to powerboat racing, and are certainly not purely for boatmad. If any powerboater from here on Boatmad wants a copy of it, just PM me.

It all makes for fascinating reading anyway even if it is only for special people. Looks like you have your hands full with probably a lot more to come. 300 people huh? That's just about the total powerboat community in the UK.
